The town still has a few monuments dating back to the 13-15th century and also has the famous Cathedral of Saint Etienne. Another cathedral which has withstood the times is cathedral of St Stephen. Even though modernization has taken over, there are ample reminders of the past French history.

To get to St Brieuc is not that difficult. Trains frequently run from Paris and other parts of France. The town is also accessible by the highways. From England, one can take a ferry from Plymouth or Portsmouth. St Brieuc also has small airport and caters to the very small planes. Getting around this small town is not difficult and walking will get you almost everywhere. During the workday, the pace is hectic and many of the streets are congested.
For the tourist this small scenic town has a lot to offer. There are many scenic and well manicured parks and gardens. The boulevards are excellent for taking a stroll in the town. Many of the wooden houses in St Brieuc still retain the raw beauty of the 18th and 19th century France. Unlike Paris, there are not a lot of great monuments. The town has ample cafeterias, restaurants and excellent bakeries. One can sit by any of the small cafes and eat some freshly baked bread with blue cheese.
On almost any street one can find someone playing folk music or the traditional Breton blues. Musical festivals are also common during the summer. And all over the city there are ample gifts, arts and crafts stores.
For the visitor there are ample places to stay. From the simple bed and breakfast to the cottage villas and luxury hotels.
For those who like to shop, St Brieuc has all the ritzy and glamour shops found in Paris. Despite being located on the beach, there is only a small beach area in the city itself.
If you have a car, one can visit the small town of Binic and Le Val Ande. These small towns cater to the younger age and have ample shops and cafeterias.
If you want a tan then one will have to go a little north to the city of Cote du Goelo or to the east to Cote du Penthievre. Here one can enjoy a day of the beach and get bronzed.
While St Brieuc does not have the glamour of Paris, it is still a pleasant place to visit and offers a brief glimpse into French culture and tradition.
