Hotels In Malta Turn On Their ImaginationSubmitted by Osborne Sun, 30 Aug 2009
The hotels in Malta have had a disappointing 2009 - after several years of increased occupancy they have been hit by the recession that has caused business people and families to cut back on their overseas travel.
Business travel to Malta has been particularly harsh on the Malta hotels - the number of business people visiting the island in June for example was a third down on the same month a year earlier. And although the drop hasn't been as big for the number of tourists taking holidays in Malta during 2009, it has still been a significant fall which has further impacted the occupancy rates for the Malta hotels. But some hotels in Malta are responding to the drop in their occupancy rates by adapting their traditional ways of operating. In the past hotels have either received direct bookings, often from the business sector, and in recent years via travel companies like expedia, and taken block bookings from tour operators across Europe who have then packaged accommodation and flights for holidays in Malta for tourists. One hotel in particular has taken a bold step by offering all inclusive Malta holidays and instead of relying purely on external companies now are able to do the flight bookings and other holiday incidentals direct. More traditional routes used during an economic downturn have been employed by many of the other Malta hotels - these include 2 nights for 3 offers and reduced rates with special offers. Not as imaginative as some, but necessary to stay in the game. Once on the island, Malta offers many activities for tourists, no matter what time of year they visit. Boating, cycling, snorkeling, diving, horseback riding and golf are some of the most popular activities enjoyed by tourists. Different areas offer different interest for those taking Malta holidays. Mellieha and St Paul's Bay areas are both areas in the north of the island, and both attract a good number of holidaymakers - Mellieha has a good beach and quite a few people who take villa holidays head for Mellieha. St. Paul's Bay is the ideal holiday area for tourists who like some variety. Whether they want to take a peaceful stroll around the harbour and look at the Mediterranean, to indulge in a coffee at the waterside cafes, or simply to relax and take in some sunshine, St. Paul's Bay is a good Malta holidays area and has a range of hotels. With the hotels in Malta providing some good deals, it could be a good time to visit the island for business or pleasure. About the Author
