Trekking in Nepal is an unforgettable experience because it takes you closer to some of the highest mountains in the world. The mesmerizing sunrise over Everest or Lhotse is something that most people dream of but you can make it happen because trekking in Nepal offers such rewarding views. If you are looking for a moderate to difficult or strenuous trek then trekking in Nepal has a perfect itinerary for you - the Lower Dolpa trek.

As a part of the trek you will cross three high passes and walk through forested path, dry high altitude desert landscape, and Tibetan gompas and monasteries. The best time for trekking in Nepal to lower Dolpa is from September to late December and again from February to Late June when the trails are accessible.

The Lower Dolpa trek starts from Beni Bazaar and there will be night halts after every 6-7 hours of trek every day. The night halts include Lamachur, Dharapani (Dhaulagiri peaks can be seen from here), Muna (2300m), Jaljale (3430m - the trail here is through forested area), Dhorpatan (2300m - you will cross a forest of pine trees and juniper to reach this point), and Thankot Besi (You will need to cross the Pagune Lekh pass at 4050m and walk along the banks of the Pagune River). While crossing the Pagune Lekh Pass, you will get rare and beautiful views of the Dhaulagiri ranges, Putha Hiunchuli, and Chure. From Thankot Besi, you will trek to Pelma through a grassy meadow and after crossing a small gushing river.

The next night halt after Pelma is Dhule (3300m), Seng Khola (3600m - from here you will have to climb up the Nautale La Pass at 3970m), Jangla La (4530m), Sahartara, Lahini (3250m), Tarap Khola Cave (3500m - this trail goes through landslide zone with narrow walking paths), Dho Tarap (4100m - This part of the trail goes through narrow paths and deep gorges), Numla base camp (5360m), Bagla base camp (5090m - to reach here, you will have to cross the high altitude Numla pass), and finally to Phoksundo Lake(3600m- You will have to cross the Bagla Pass to reach here).
