Paris, like the majority of the European cities, was created as a result of joining of several villages, each of which had its own history, charm and traditions. That’s why even now every district lives its own life, the left bank is not like the right one, two metro stations can differ diametrically.
Don’t even try to divide the capital into parts and compose a program of sights to visit in each sector. Study just several districts, but more detailed. Stroll along the Saint-Germain rather than go inside the Pantheon. Walk at the Cite rather than get locked within the walls of the Notre-Dame.
A traveler who is short of time should better thoroughly examine one or two districts than to try to visit all of them. And the next time (be sure you’ll certainly want to come back in Paris!) you can go on getting acquainted with the French capital. So what to see in District one? Here’s a short list of sights:

First District.
The heart of Paris. Main sights:
Tuileries
The most luxuriant Paris square – place Vendome
The Louvre
Palais-Royal
Les Halles
Orangerie
Musee de la Publicite
Saint-Chapelle
Palais Royal.

Should one go to the Louvre? In fact it depends on the time you have. There’s no sense in coming, rushing to the Mona Lisa and streaming away. So plan your time beforehand. A very interesting museum is that of Orangerie in Tuileries. It houses a collection of the works by impressionists. Also notable are the contemporary art exhibitions in the beautiful Jeu de Paume. It’s also nice to stroll along the oldest in Europe bridge, the Pont-Neuf, or to keep up with the time paying a visit to Musee de la Publicite at the Rivoli street. Don’t miss a chance to get acquainted with Saint-Chapelle, the pearl of the Gothic art of the XIII century, and the Palais Royal with its original colonnade.
