Sheffield is in South Yorkshire, in the north of England. It is close to Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and the Peak District. It’s a family-friendly city with a prosperous economy and relatively low cost of living. Sheffield obtained world-wide recognition during the 19th century for its production of steel. This fuelled an almost tenfold increase in the population during the Industrial Revolution. The city has grown from its largely industrial roots to encompass a wide economic base. Sheffield is England's fourth-largest city, with the wealth of facilities you would expect to find in a major city.

Arts & Culture
Sheffield prides itself on a rich cultural heritage and no stay in the city is complete without a visit to one of our many museums and art galleries. The Millennium Galleries with its central location is great place to start for a mix of blockbuster exhibitions plus traditional and contemporary examples of Sheffield's craftsmanship. Our industrial heritage is a unique one of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Outdoor Life
Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the UK and is located at the confluence of five rivers, with much of the city having been built on hillsides. Located on rolling hills, dissected by river valleys. They boast a huge variety of urban parks, woodlands, countryside, and other green spaces which are very popular and attract between 25 to 40 million individual visits each year.

Shopping
You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping in Sheffield. A quick Supertram ride from the centre is Meadowhall, one of Europe's biggest shopping centres with more than 270 stores. The City Centre complements Meadowhall perfectly, with its high-street stores, independent designer shops and designer boutiques providing an unrivalled retail experience. Many places to eat including Indian, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, pavement cafés and tapas bars. The 11-screen cinema is very popular on top of other award-winning programme events.

Nightlife
There are loads of places in Sheffield to unwind, kick back, and leave the day behind. Club nights like DISKO at Gatecrasher, Club NME at Plug and Bedlam at Embrace. The Thriving live music scene from indie, rock and thrash to mainstream, folk and blues. Sheffield nightlife attracts clubbers from all over the country, with a vibrant pre-club scene.
