Things To Do In SydneySubmitted by samnoble18 Thu, 3 Dec 2009
If you're lucky enough to be planning a holiday in Sydney, Australia, then you're probably looking for a suitable itinerary in order to make the most out of your visit. Sydney is positively brimming with excellent things to see and do, so you never have to worry about getting bored in this fabulous Down Under city. By taking a look at a few of the top attractions listed below, you can guarantee that your holiday will be absolutely breathtaking, unforgettable and enjoyable.
The Sydney Opera House As one of the first things that most people think of when Sydney comes to mind, the Sydney Opera House is a wonderful place to include on your tour of the city. The architecture here is phenomenal, and seeing it all up close is a wonderful way to really feel like you're immersed in the culture of the city. With its clean, modern design set off so perfectly by the backdrop of Sydney Harbour, there's no place else quite like it on Earth. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb The Sydney Harbour Bridge is another one of the most noticeable landmarks in this eclectic city, and climbing it is one experience that you absolutely shouldn't miss. Once you've reached the top of your climb, you'll be 400 feet up and will be able to take in one of the best views of Sydney and the Harbour in town. Although the climb looks a bit daunting, it's actually not so bad and everyone is kept very safe with harnesses and other special equipment. If you've got an adventurous streak - or just want a one-of-a-kind view of this amazing city - be sure to go on the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb. The AMP Tour And Skywalk The Sydney Tower is the same height as the Eiffel Tower, except here you get to climb up to the top and experience the Skywalk. At 780 feet up in the sky, you'll get to see the city in a way you never have before. This is another example of the many extreme sorts of fun you can have in this fun, vibrant city; try to check it out if you get a chance. The Taronga Zoo Whether you're traveling with children - or are simply a fan of animals yourself - the Taronga Zoo is a great place to include on a holiday in Sydney. There are plenty of local animals to marvel over, but many exotic species are included as well. The zoo is designed to raise awareness about all of the world's animals, so it is entertaining and educational. Mrs. Macquaries' Chair and Point If you want to enjoy a stunning view of Sydney - without doing any climbing or going up to a lofty height - then Mrs. Macquarie's Chair and Point are probably your best bet. The Chair itself is a bench that was carved out of sandstone in honor of a former Sydeney governor's wife. The Point is an immensely popular spot where you can while away a pleasant afternoon and take in a really incredible view. Most people agree that this is one of the best vantage points in the city. The Royal Botanic Gardens Located right alongside Mrs. Macquaries' Chair is the Royal Botanic Gardens. It is an excellent place to learn more about the plants and flowers of the region, and to see a stunning array of examples for yourself. The gardens themselves are very peaceful and relaxing, making them a natural choice for people who want to get away form the hustle and bustle of the big city. Whether you're a student of botany or just like to learn as much about an area as possible, the Royal Botanic Gardens are a must-see place. Palm Beach If beaches are your thing, then head just twenty miles out of the city up to Palm Beach. This is a very exclusive area and this is one of the best beaches to be found in the area. The Palm Beach Lighthouse offers another great option, and is very scenic to behold. Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it, especially on a particularly warm summer day - you simply can't do better in Sydney.
