Travelling to Valencia and eating paellaSubmitted by andreav Fri, 22 May 2009
One of the reasons that make Valencia such a famous city despite of its size is a dish. Obviously I am talking about paella, the culinary symbol of the city. During you stay in Valencia, no matter what you will be doing in the city, you must try at least one paella. There are so many restaurants offering paella that it is not so easy to pick up the right one to taste the original recipe made with good quality products. This is a shortlist giving you 3 choices among the best restaurants in Valencia. You have only to choose and try.
LA RIUA RESTAURANT The restaurant La Riua in Valencia, Spain, is probably the best place to eat paella in town. You can choose your favourite paella between more than 15 traditional varieties of paella and rice. It's difficult to find a richer offer in another restaurant in the city. Don't forget to book your table in advance because La Riua is very popular and loved and it is always full of people. If you don't want to waste time waiting simply book the table and also call when you are arriving: the waiting time will be shorter. Paella here can cost 15 euro. TAPELIA RESTAURANT In this restaurant you can choose your best paella among up to 20 different varieties. Tapelia is in fact a real "ricery" ("arroceria"). You have also the option of the take away paella and eat it in one of the available holiday Valencia apartments or wherever you prefer. The ambient is nice with decorated walls, artworks, soft lightning and great jazz soundtrack. Range of prices may vary from 20 euro for paella, 12 euro for salads, 7 for meat dishes. In case you don't want to eat paella, order creative meat dishes or a good salad. TAVERNA ALKAZAR Typical Valencian restaurant, the Taverna Alkazar is a great authentic local that you must try. With more than 50 years of service, it is one of the most famous places to eat also between Valencians. Maybe it is not that cheap but it combines with success quality and simplicity. The ambient is really nice with Spanish themes in the walls and a big dining summer terrace shared with the other two restaurants. They are named Givera and the Pelacio de Bellota and they are other two very good restaurants, probably a bit cheaper.
Andrea is going to Valencia soon and it is writing content about the city.
