Vacation Guide to Barbados Hotel and Beach Getaway

Submitted by thefireguru

Are you planning a Barbados hotel and beach getaway? Planning any trip is tedious. One must do a little research especially if it is one's first time in that tourist destination. Learning some details about that location is a must if one wants to have a smooth, trouble free vacation. Without proper planning, a vacation can turn into a disaster that will leave one tired instead of relaxed. Learning ways to get around, accommodations, the culture, and the fun activities in Barbados would help one get the best vacation ever.

Getting Around the Island
There are many ways to get around the island. Most accommodations will provide their guests with rental cars. The island is not that big anyway and traveling to all its' coasts can be a great experience. But if one is adventurous, why not rent bikes instead? Biking around Barbados is a great way to get around as well as soak in the fresh tropical sun and breeze. There is also lots of decent public transportation in the island. Aside from busses and taxis, one can try the color coded ZR vans that really travel fast. By the way, the roads are for right hand drive.

Choosing Barbados Hotel Accommodation
This might be the most important question one should determine when going to Barbados. Of course, one will want to get a hotel near the coast, right next to the beach if possible. The question is which coast should you choose? Each Barbados coast has its own character so choose the one that fits yours.

-West Coast
The western coast of the island is also known as the Platinum coast. As the name suggests, this place is where the most expensive and luxurious establishments are located. One can sometimes find Hollywood stars in this coast. There are a lot of luxury hotels near the beach fronts as well as top notch golf courses. The waves in the west coast are calm and the beaches are well manicured.

- North and East Coast
The terrain of the North and East coasts boasts of wild raw nature. The limestone cliffs in the northern end will truly take one's breath away. It is a photographer's dream. The waves here come from the Atlantic. They are very large and a lot of the beaches here are not suitable for first time swimmers. In fact, the "Soup Bowl" in the east coast is a world class surfing destination were international competitions are held.

- The Southern Coast can be described as a cross between the rawness of the northeast and the west. The waves are moderate. The prices are also relatively reasonble. The white beaches are family friendly and are popular not only to many tourists but also to the locals.

Culture
Since Barbados was once a British colony, the mixture of Baja, Caribbean culture and English affectations are apparent everywhere and with everyone. People can be conservative with their clothing (there are no nude beaches) but can be very festive at the same time. It is a combination of English quaintness and a relaxed tropical attitude apparent in both architecture and society.

There is no doubt that Barbados is one of the most perfect places to spend one's vacation. Just plan ahead and one will be able to enjoy flawless white sand beaches, the beautiful Barbados hotel accommodations, and the perfect azure waters without any troubles.
