What to do on a rainy day in North CornwallSubmitted by artavia.seo Thu, 24 Sep 2009
Cornwall has plenty of things to do on a rainy day and you don't have to look very hard to find those things. The Press House and Bottlery have tours that show you the art of making farmhouse ciders, fruit wines and even brandy. The site offers a free tasting area for your enjoyment. You can also have fun making jam, visiting the farm museum or visiting with the farm animals. They have a farm shop and a restaurant, and after you're satisfied, you can go out on a tractor ride through the fields and orchards of the property. They have also just recently begun producing apple juice that is pressed on the farm and is 100 percent natural.
You can experience what it was like to be in a courtroom trial situation in 1844. You will be deciding the fate of a fellow named Matthew Weeks, who is accused of murdering Charlotte Dymond, whose body was found on Rough Tor in Bodmin Moor in 1844. In truth, this murder still stands unsolved. You can watch this trial and then cast your vote for his innocence or guilt. The trial takes approximately 45 minutes and also includes a visit to the holding cells. Bodmin and Wenford Railway is Cornwall's only standard gauge railway that is still traversed by steam trains. It is under a cover and offers a wonderful ride through the Cornish countryside. There are different themes for different nights including a murder mystery night with actors on board, giving you a chance to solve a crime. Dairyland Farm World is a wonderful place to visit no matter what the weather conditions are. It has many indoor play areas including slides, mini tractors, and an adventure playground. You can interact with the farm animals and spend time in a milking parlour. They serve home made ice cream, and give picnics with local grown produce. Cornish cream teas are served and there is a gift shop to purchase a memento of your trip. Your family can also enjoy pony rides and cow milking. Be aware that some of the attractions at this location may cost extra in order to experience. Don't let a light rain keep you from experiencing the Newquay Zoo where the day starts at five am with a tour around the grounds, following the zookeepers. You could get a chance to help prepare breakfast for some of the animals before you yourself are treated to a fine cooked breakfast.
