There is just so much to see and do this autumn in the New Forest that's its impossible to do everything. What ever your tastes or interests there will be something to delight you taking place in the New Forest in the coming months. Here are just a few highlight of what's on offer.
The Call of the Sea Sat 15th August - Sat 17th October 2009 (closed Sundays) St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery, Lymington This year's exhibition marks the anniversary of the death of two key figures in the marine artworld, Charles Brooking and Peter Monamy. Brooking and Monamy were a huge influence in creating a distinctly British style of painting which drew inspiration from the power and atmosphere of the sea and its ships. The Sound of Music Tue 29th September - Sat 24th October 2009 (not Sundays) The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton The original winner of ‘How do you Solve a Problem Like Maria' rejoins the cast to play the lead in the worlds most popular musical. Connie Fisher will be joined by fellow West End performers Michael Pread (Captain von Trapp) and Maggie Preece (Mother Abbess). The hugely successful and critically acclaimed production comes straight from the West Ends London Palladium. The uplifting story and classic songs make this an experience to be missed. Halloween Sat 24th October - Sun 1st November 2009 There is a whole host of spooky and scary goings on in the New Forest over Halloween this year. There are ghost trains, witches cauldrons, haunted woods and magic to delights and terrify people of all ages. Do you dare go in to the woods? Disney's High School Musical 2 Mon 26th October - Sat 7th November 2009 (not Sundays) The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton The hit musical High School Musical swings in to The Mayflower Theatre in Southampton with all the fun and excitement of the hit film. Les Denis plays Mr. Fulton along with all the much loved characters and memorable songs the show promises to delight fans and non fans alike. Welsh National Opera November 2009 The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton The Welsh National Opera will be performing a number of classic operas throughout November. The Welsh National Opera will perform at The Mayflower Theatre La Traviata Verdi, Madam Butterfly Puccini and Wozzeck.
