Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo Travel Guide And Tips

Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo is in the suburbs of Wuhan. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province, People's Republic of China, and is the most populous city in central China. It lies at the east of Jianghan Plain, and the intersection of the middle reaches of the Yangtze and Han River. Arising out of the conglomeration of three boroughs, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as "the nine provinces' leading thoroughfare"; it is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city. The city of Wuhan, first termed as such in 1927, has a population of approximately 9,100,000 people (2006), with about 6,100,000 residents in its urban area. In the 1920s, Wuhan was the capital of a leftist Kuomintang (KMT) government led by Wang Jingwei in opposition to Chiang Kai-shek, now Wuhan is recognized as the political, economic, financial, cultural, educational and transportation center of central China.

Admission fee for Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo:
60 rmb for adult, 36 rmb for kids between 1.2 and 1.4 meters, free for kids shorter than 1.2 meters, 36 rmb for the aged (>60), 36 rmb for students (need to show a student ID). The ticket includes two free animal shows. If you wanna take the Mengchouguanshangche bus, the cost is 10 rmb.

Opening hours:
8:30-16:30.

Traffic:
(1). From Hankou to Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo: Luoyulu street - Yuemachang - Dingziqiao - Jiedaokou - Luxiang - Guanshankou - Shenlingongyuan - Shiguanxuexiao - Wangjiadian - Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo.
(2). From Hanyang to Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo: Baishazhoudaqiao - Guanggudadao street - Luoyulu street - Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo.
(3). From Wuchang to Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo: Go through the Luoyulu street for about 12 km.(from west to east)

What to eat:
Wuhan has a long history and the famous Chinese Ecai food is from this place. These are recommend by the local people: Qingzhengwuchangyu fish, Huangmenjiayu, Pitiaoshanyu, Jubanyuyuan, Hongshancaitaichaolarou, Huangposanhe, Reganmian, Sanqiandoupi, Waguanjitang, Tangbao.

Tips:
(1). It is a good place for the kids. Fresh air, lovely animals.
(2). There are no very large number of animals in this zoo, but the shows are pretty good.
(3). If you wanna save some money, booking your tickets online is a good choice.
(4). You can do BBQ in this zoo. Remember to bring your BBQ stuffs if you are in the mood.
(5). Lots of people believe that Wuhan Jiufeng Zoo is better than Wuhan Zoo.
(6). The dog racing show is recommended by many tourists.
(7). The food in this zoo is very expensive. A Kangshifu instant noodle costs 8 rmb here. You can bring some snacks and drinks in your bag if you wanna some some money
(8). This zoo is a little bit far away from the downtown of Wuhan. You'd better drive here. Taking buses will waste too much time.
(9). It will be very crowded if you come here in the holidays. Workdays are better options.
(10). Remember not to feed the animals without permission.
