Glacier National Park biking - a lifetime experience

Submitted by jeremiah

Glacier National Forest is an extremely popular place for biking. They do have certain trail rules and trail hours as most of the parks do. On the, Going-to-the-Sun Road, moonlight rides are quite popular. With the glow of moon on a clear night, the scenery of Glacier National park truly comes alive. You can start glacier bicycling to the hill a couple of hours before the sundown. It can be late during summer which can coast down the light of silvery moon and so you will essentially require helmets, headlamps and reflectors after the nightfall.

Glacier National park bicycling is one such experience that you will never forget in your life. Bicycles can only be used in the parking areas and established roads or on the designated routes. However, bicycles are not allowed on the trails and so it is better to go glacier biking from east to west on Going-to- the-Sun Road.

If you wish to be a backcountry cyclist or are already one, there are some simple rules that you need to follow for proper trail etiquette and sport safety. Initially, you need to ensure that your bike and equipment are working perfectly. You also need to make sure that you wear proper gear like cycling tights or shorts, helmet, bicycle gloves and windbreaker jacket to make biking in glacier a safe and fun filled experience.

Glacier hiking is another good way of exploring the spectacular beauty and natural splendor of the glacier national park. Glacier hiking is an option that is available for every age and ability. So if you haven't tried Glacier National Park biking, do it now!
