Hvar is a croatian island on the Adriatic sea.It is located between the well known Dalmatian cities Dubrovnik and Split.
The island of Hvar has a length of 67.5 km, a maximum width of 10.6 km and 11.459 inhabitants (census 2001). The main town of the island Hvar is Hvar is with 3,643 inhabitants. Other towns on the island Hvar are Sucuraj, Jelsa, Stari Grad, Basina, Zavala, Vrboska, Sveta Nedilja, Milna and Ivan Dolac. The so-called "lavender island" is one of the most famous tourist destinations, especially during the summer months. The lavender is a typical Mediterranean plant.It is very typical for Croatia. They were planted for the first time on this island between the two world wars.
