My perfect London flightSubmitted by Jonathan101 Tue, 10 Jun 2008
I just got in from my perfect London flight. I am writing this in my hotel room and I have not even put away my suitcase yet! It was simply the most fantastic airline experience that I have ever had. Everything was perfect.
I made sure I had my passport AND another solid form of identification. Two reliable forms of ID, even when only one would suffice, makes getting through the checkpoint so much easier. The airports have these rules about liquids and baggies, but I just avoid bringing any liquids to the place entirely. It is one less thing for security to check and inspect. I also avoided bringing anything but a small backpack with a few books and my PDA. Again, the less they have to inspect, the easier it is on both of us. My usual preparation paid off as I got fast tracked through the security checkpoint. I purchased my ticket well in advance for quite a reasonable price. After my quick breeze through security, I was waiting at the boarding gate. I struck up a polite conversation with the airline employee who was getting ready at the gate. She was very nice and when time came for boarding, I got to go first and I was offered a chance to use relatively few of my frequent flier miles to upgrade to first class for free. I took the offer as soon as it came, as it was almost too good to be true. I flew in true style on my London flight for penny pincher prices. My great experience did not stop at the security inspection and board gate. It was the first time I had ever flown first class and I was blown away. The seats are quite roomy and extremely comfortable. There is more than enough legroom and the flight attendants service is professional and meticulous. The food is simply amazing. It is the complete polar opposite of what you probably think of airline food. I had a steak with a baked potato, as well as bisque and a torte. I felt like I was visiting nobility on that London flight! The in-flight entertainment was also of high quality and I must have laughed out loud several times. Near the end of the flight, I asked how common it was to get flight upgrades for so few miles. She told me it was not uncommon and that I was actually earning double miles for the current flight because I was flying in first class. To top off my flight, my luggage was in the first batch to come out at the collection point! Everything just went so perfectly that I am still breathless.
