Deciding on a family trip could be a frightening challenge, as well as an exercise in patience. But if you get ready in advance, the vacation can be one of the most memorable times of your family's life.

Here are a few fast and easy tips for making your family trip an enjoyable and relaxing one.

First, make a checklist of things you'll need. This will include first aid kit, things to eat, snacks, drinks, and plenty of toys, coloring books, paper and crayons, a cartable DVD unit so your youngsters can view their favourite movies ; and a cooler to keep food and drinks cool. A brilliant idea is to ask the children what games and toys they want to bring, within boundaries of course.

Ensure that the munchies are healthy in nature. Snacks with too much sugar can have the youngsters bouncing around the car. Don't forget, this is a chilled family vacation and you need to avoid the children becoming bored or repeatedly asking when you're going to get there.

Check on the internet to print out games for the journey that you and the children can play on the way. There are an assortment of puzzles and word searches too.

In addition, if you have toddlers you'll need to bring the diaper bag and wipes for the occasional messes, bedding if necessary and a favorite item or stuffed animal for the young ones is a smart idea also.

2nd, decide on the place you want to visit and then contact AAA to book tickets. Try to get the scenic route, one that is way more calming and pleasing to the eye, especially the driver!

Third, as you look into the upcoming route you may need to check on the internet to locate gas stands on the way that offer the least expensive gas. Also if there are some places to see along the way mark them on the map and plan to visit en route.

Fourth, while on the road make sure that you make rest stops constantly. This will permit the children to run around and release some tension, while permitting the adults to stretch and reenergize. Bring along a football or soccer ball so that the entire family can have some fun while exercising at the same time.

Eventually, it is very important that safety precautions are taken. This includes having the vehicle checked at your neighbourhood mechanic or petrol station. Ensure that the oil/filter are changed ; the tires are properly pumped up ( don't forget the spare tire, too ) ; the windshield wipers are replaced ( if necessary ) ; and the automobile is in great condition before you head out.

In addition, you might want to put these items in your trunk : a lawn chair, extra quilt, emergency road kit, umbrellas, bottled, flashlight and batteries, a battery-charged radio, and windscreen wiper cleaner. Inside the glove box keep a first aid kit and telephone charger. Keep all medications in a plastic bag in the glove compartment as well .

Another good idea is to take a catalogue of telephone numbers including the accomodations where you are staying as well as those of buddies and relatives you may need to get in touch with.

If you like scrapbooking, this trip could be an ideal chance to add new creations to your scrapbook. When you have some rest stops at beautiful lookout points, ask the children to look for something they want to put in the scrapbook. Or if the youngsters point out something on the way that they think is fascinating, snap a picture of it to include in the scrapbook also.

Engage the kids in the decision-making, age acceptable, and permit them to choose what they want to bring from home. Have them pack their clothes ( check the cases afterwards ) so they feel part of the overall experience. Planning beforehand for a family trip will save some time, stress, and money. And the children will like this journey, too!
