Rainy Day Activities for a holiday in NorthumberlandSubmitted by artavia.seo Wed, 30 Sep 2009
Ever tried playing in the pool in the rain? You're already wet so what more would rain do to you. But playing in the pool in the rain can be fun, it gives a whole different feel to the pool as the rain spatters the water's surface with droplets. Because most people are not so adventurous to play in the pool in the rain, another plus is that you and yours would have the pool all to yourselves. A point of caution though, never play in a pool or in water at all when there is a thunder storm going on, even if that thunderstorm seems to be miles away from you. Lightning bolts have been recorded to have traveled five or more miles outside a storm area, striking in an area that isn't even experiencing rain. If you're even more adventurous, you could visit the Wet and Wild park and have fun sliding in the rain.
Since water is the theme of the day, how about a visit to the Sea Life Center, where you can visit the Blue Reef Aquarium, where you can visit the tide pools, and view the small creatures that reside there. Then maybe go and visit the open top ray tank, where you can visit with the people friendly rays that reside there. Rays are relatives of sharks, being basically flattened versions of them with ‘wings' and speaking of sharks, you can travel through a tunnel through a shark tank. You stay safe and dry (minus the rain outside) while sharks swim over and around the tunnel, giving you a wonderfully close view of this awe inspiring predator. Metrocenter is a shopping center that boasts over 330 stores and fifty restaurants; it even has an indoor cinema. With all this available to you, you can spend your whole day in shopping bliss while the rain washes the countryside. Just think, you will be warm and dry, wandering through the multitude of stores, stopping to eat when you're hungry and even watching a movie if you feel the urge. With so many things to do within the fully enclosed super mall, you won't even be thinking about how wet it is outside. Be sure you bring your pocket book and someone to carry your bags, with all the wonderful shopping, you don't stand much of a chance of leaving this mall without bringing some purchases with you.
