Real Free Flights?Submitted by Jonathan101 Fri, 13 Jun 2008
We all know that there is no such thing as a real free flight, but there are such things as cheap flights. You can search for flights that go anywhere from any airport. You have to do a lot of searching in order to find these flights because a lot of websites, travel agents and airlines are all just trying to make a buck. With gas prices going up almost everyday, it seems as if flying is the cheaper option when you have to travel out of state or out of the country.
Whether you choose to fly across the United States or across the Atlantic Ocean, you want to find a cheap or reasonably priced flight. You can do this by doing some online research. It really is not that hard to open up your web browser and type in "cheap flights" or "international flights" in the search bar or maybe you prefer to use google or yahoo search. When you do your search, do not be overwhelmed with the amount of websites that your search engine has found. There are sites that say they can offer you a cheap international flight, but read the fine print before you book your flight. Just because the site says it can give you a cheap flight, there are circumstances that accompany the cheap flight. Some places say they will offer you the best price but only at flights that depart at certain times of the day or night. They may even have a policy that states in order to receive the cheapest flight, whether it is international or across the state lines, they can't offer that price on certain days. Some even only offer cheap flight prices just on the weekend or just during the week which can be a pain in anybody's neck. If you go with calling the airline directly, you are in for a lot of phone time and you will need a lot of patience. Especially since they like to put you on hold several times during the call and that is if you can manage to get through the automated part of the call without slamming the phone back down on the receiver. Trying to get a cheap flight directly through the airline can also take a lot of negotiation. If you know what you are doing, then you will be able to do this without any problems. If you decide to book through a travel agent, you may not get the cheapest flight available or at the time that you want to depart from the airport. Another reason that you might not get the cheapest flight possible is that the travel agent has to make a certain commission off of what package they sell you. Any option that you choose, just remember that since gas prices are rising everyday, your cheap flight will come with an additional gas "tax" so that the airline can make up for gas lost on the flight, whether it is international or not.
