A new holiday complex has seen the jet set brigade flock to it since its opening. They drive around in Aston Martins and throw the best parties around. Their number includes a bestselling author, soap stars and a former Man United player. Yet this holiday park is not in Dubai or on the French Riviera it's in North Wales, and the accommodation is not a Tuscan style villa, it a wooden lodge.

The holiday park on the Lleyn Peninsula has seen an influx of the Cheshire set buy holidays homes here. These are not your normal holiday lodges though; these are half a million pound seafront lodges, making them the most expensive park properties anywhere in the UK.

The lodges may look traditional but they are packed full of the latest gizmos including remote controlled windows, wine fridges, double showers and even body driers. At 50ft x 22ft these lodges are a far cry from traditional holiday park accommodation, the static caravan.

The huge price tag doesn't include the annual park maintenance fees, only entitles you to live there for part of the year and only buys you a 20 year lease. So why are so many people queuing up to buy these properties?

One reason is the lifestyle that goes with it, the ability to getaway for a weekend for longer to your own luxury home away from home and the ability to then show it off to friends and associates. Another reason is that it's almost impossible to buy a house of similar size and style on the seafront in such a beautiful location for less than a million, to some it makes this type of property a bargain.

The popularity in this park has been mirrored across other holiday parks and not just the uber luxurious variety either. Sales of lodges and caravan holiday homes have increased 30 percent over the past year. Many have seen the rise in ‘staycations' as one of the main reason behind it, with people choosing to stay in the UK rather than expensive foreign holidays. Another reason is that often lodges and caravans are cheaper to buy than holidays homes abroad, while some have the potential to provide a fantastic holiday rental.
