Fun filled Family ski holidays ItalySubmitted by tomvatson Mon, 22 Jun 2009
Skiing in Italy with your family is a fine and recommended holiday by several travelers. Although the ski resorts in Italy are not as famous as the ones in Switzerland or Austria, but surely they have a beauty of their own. It is definitely considered as one of the most memorable experiences by the people who have spent a family ski holiday in Italy.
The beauty of skiing in Italy is that it feels like you are skiing in two different countries. One can taste the best of two worlds in Italy. Germany skiing can be experienced at South Tyrol and Aosta Valley gives a French skiing experience. Even though the food and wine varies between these two constituencies, the Italian hospitality remains constant everywhere. Their friendliness and easygoing way of life along with excellent ski locations make really good family ski holidays in Italy. Italy has a variety of options when it comes to skiing. There are some exotic locations that will enable you to ski into one of their neighboring countries, which is one special experience. There some exclusive ski zones like duty free ski zones. Skiing at certain places is available all throughout the year whereas some locations allow skiing during summer seasons only. One of the best choices for spending family ski holidays in Italy is the northwest of Italy. If you are looking for some budget airports in that area, Turin is a great pick. Turin also happens to be the host of the 2006 Winter Olympics. A valley by the name of Valle di Susa is situated near the Italian-French border and is to the west of Turin. Valle di Susa has numerous ski resorts to spend a great family ski holiday in Italy including Sauze d'Oulx, Bardonecchia and Sestriere which has an elevation of over 2000 meters. If you wish to visit Sestriere from Turin, there are several bus services plying between the two skiing cities. Besides 20 ski lifts, Sestriere also possesses an ice rink and a few cross country trials. The wood pine trees, historical castles and wooden lodges are some things in Sestriere which will fascinate those who are uninterested in skiing which ensures a fun filled family ski holiday in Italy for everyone. Other skiing locations in Italy include Courmayeur, St. Vincent, Pila, Cogne and Dolomites. There are about a dozen skiing locations in the Dolomite Superski network.
