Hemis Monastery, the largest Gompa in Ladakh region, is world wide famous for the huge paintings of Lord Buddha which is showcased once in 11 years to the public. The Shey Gompa is known for huge collection of gold plated copper statue of Lord Buddha while the Thiksey Monastery is worldwide famous for its stunning architecture.
