Before booking flights I would suggest sitting down with family, friends, boyfriend or girlfriend to discuss the requirements for you’re trip. It maybe a summer holiday, short break or for business.

Having a good idea what you and your family want from a holiday before booking something you think everyone will enjoy will ensure everyone gets along a lot better when away making the experience much better for everyone. Once you know what type of holiday you are after set a budget for what you want to spend. This will avoid overspends and ensure you can make the most of the holiday when you arrive if you haven’t overspent on the flights and accommodation.

Use the internet to research locations. You can find a wealth of information on what each location can offer on a holiday. Many destinations sound like a fantastic place to visit but may not suit your circumstances and may not give you what you expected. On the internet you can also find reviews from other holidaymakers giving top tips on places to visit and of course places to avoid.

The traditional outlets, high street travel agents are another fantastic source of information with their experienced staff able to provide advice best suited to your circumstances.

Once you have got to the stage of knowing which destination or destinations you are interested in searching on the internet using comparison sites can be beneficial in providing substantial discounts and better deals that offered at your local travel agent branch.

If you are flexible with your dates you have more chance of finding that great deal. Experts do advice you to book as early as possible but it is possible to find last minute deals even in this economic climate so booking eight to ten weeks before the holiday gives you the best prices for holidays .

Finally when booking travel insurance ensure it is adequate for the type of holiday that you decide on. Travel insurance is very competitive so it is possible to get very cheap cover that is fully comprehensive for your holidays.
