Blogging for Links

Writing a blog is a good way to build links to other sites within your network and has several advantages over directory submissions and other methods of link building.

Firstly, you own the blog so can tailor the content to reflect what is on the site you are link to, thus making the link more relevant. For example if your site is about insurance, set up an insurance blog or a more general finance blog.

Also the blog can be updated as often as you like, giving you the opportunity to increase the number of links to a particular site, or indeed to several sites.

The blog makes an ideal source for deep links. This allows the target page to be specifically related to the blog post and it drives customers to the most relevant page on your site thus improving conversion rates amongst your visitors.

You decide where to place the link. The link does not have to be tucked away with several other footer links, or at the bottom of a side bar, it can be right there, in the article itself. This means the anchor text is likely to be surrounded by other keywords and key phrases, again increasing relevancy of the links.

As a word of caution, the blog posts must of course be readable as well as relevant and make sure there are only one or two links in each blog post. It is off putting to have every other word highlighted as a link. Also it ensures that there are not too many outbound links on a page.
