Tips to Online Shopping

Here it is again, holiday shopping season and now more than ever with the fluctuating gas prices online shopping is the best way to get those gifts for the family and friends.

What better way than to shop sitting in front of the computer? You can shop in your PJ's and you don't need makeup. And if you have a broadband connection you can shop for all the gifts in a few hours.

That is a lot better than fighting the crowds at the malls, finding a parking space and walking miles inside. I don’t know about you but I shudder when I think of mall shopping.

A few tips to help you with your online shopping.

Comparison shopping is so much easier when you shop online. When you decide on a gift you can do an online search and type in the product name, SKU number or a description and the results are startling. You most likely will find hundreds of online stores that carry that exact product. You can then click into the different stores and find the best price.

You then check their terms and conditions and purchase. The terms and conditions are whether they accept the three major credit cards and what the shipping will be. Do they ship UPS or parcel post? What if you need to send a gift overseas? These should be explained in the terms and conditions.

If you decide that you want to purchase at the site make sure you are buying from a secure site. This is indicated with the address that starts https. This is an assurance that the site is behind a secure server that has a certificate that insures your information is encrypted and not accessible.
The site pays for the certificate so they are dedicated in keeping your identity safe

If the form that you will need to sign up for an account is not secure skip this site. You are only asking for trouble to continue. These are typically fly by night shops that care little about you the consumer, more they just want to grab a few bucks and then close down and start another site.

Typically when you do a Google search the sites listed are established sites. They have been in business long enough for them to be indexed and that takes some time, so they should be around long after the holidays.

This is especially important in case you have a problem with your order. If the product is defective will the store be around to replace or even refund your money? All of the major players that are established will be more than happy to do what it takes to make you the customer happy.

This is just a basic tip article. There is really no reason for you to go out anywhere to shop this holiday season, not when you have the comfort of home and your computer.
