Plan
This is basically deciding on two things – the people whom you are going to spend on and how much you are going to spend on them. It is not yet too late to come up with this list. Once you have a rough idea of how much you need for presents, then you can determine if you are going to have enough cash. If not, then you have the option of using your credit card or better yet, take out a Christmas loan. It is better to know what “you are up against” rather than be surprised in the middle of your shopping spree.

Buy used
There is nothing wrong with buying used things as gifts. Children’s toys, adult’s gadgets – name it and you can find something secondhand but relatively new. Go online and search for such deals and you will end up saving A LOT.

Be creative
Think of gifts that hold more meaning for each individual person but do not necessarily cost more. Baked goods, holiday baskets, personal cards, homemade gift packet of personal mementos – these sorts of things.
