Choosing the Right Safety Gear for Airsoft
Airsoft can be a dangerous sport, and often times it is played with a more realistic approach than a paintball competition. So when you are playing capture the flag or search and destroy, you will want to have enough safety gear to protect yourself.
The MinimumsAs a minimum, you want to protect your head and face. Getting an airsoft helmet with safey goggles is a must have for any airsoft play. Imagine getting shot in the eye with a 6 MM BB at 500 feet per second. Ouch! That could put your eye out. Also, you want to be wearing some heavy duty pants, to make sure getting hit below the belt won't put you down for the count.
Extra SafetyAdditionally, wearing a long sleeve shirt and pants is a good idea. Anytime you get hit in the bare skin with a hard plastic BB at high speeds, you will feel the sting. Strong, outdoor boots are also nice to give you a good footing when trampling over rough terrain. Get something with a wide and thick sole to help you keep your balance. And lastly, neck pads and gloves can help protect the smaller, more delicate areas of your body.
Airsoft is a great sport, and can really help a child or teenager to interact with their peers, and have a great time aside from the house and TV, video games and other brain rotting activities. But make sure they get a little protection, as airsoft can be a dangerous activity.
