Asking for Help!

Submitted by workingmom

Personal Note From Helen
As the town of Hulett, WY is about to go from population 402 to 60,000 bikers taking over Main Street for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the kids and I are off to a summer cottage in the Black hills for some family fun (minus daddy who will be working the events with Uncle Dean). For me to find a place to stay, find things to do, and find others to help me manage the kids, I had to ask for HELP.
Speaking of HELP, when growing your business…are you asking? Are you giving? Doing both can take your business from struggling mess to profitable success!
PS: A great big "Welcome!" to all the new readers who joined our Weekend Publicist community! You're going to love the resources you'll find here to help you build your business...Enjoy!

Help Yourself by Helping Out!

Peter Shankman has devised a fantastic service for journalists to connect with potential sources: Help a Reporter Out. By registering as a "source" for this COMPLETELY FREE service at www.helpareporter.com you will receive emails morning, noon and night from REAL reporters looking to write REAL stories. The best thing about these requests is that there is always a nice mix of experts and common folk need. Meaning, if you are a yoga instructor you can answer a query that targets "Certified yoga instructors to talk about how yoga helps reverse heart disease" and if you have

If you are as busy building your business as I am (and I know you are) you probably don't have endless hours to work on a publicity campaign. You need to know who to talk to, what to say and how to say it. Luckily, a service like HARO can help you do that. But in order to make the great connections that are available through this source, you'll need to know Three Secrets For Making HARO Work For You. Click here to get your complimentary audio of HARO Secrets and learn:
1. Give reporters the "quick and dirty" not the "long and painfully boring".
2. Create a well stocked sound bite folder
3. Practice your phone interview "appearance"
4. Craft a "Conversation Closer" that leads to additional opportunities
5. suffered from heart disease you could answer a query that targets, "Persons/non-experts who have used yoga as a way to reverse heart disease and a sedentary lifestyle". Why is this such a fantastic pairing? Because everyone is an expert is something.

8. Ask For Help! by Helen Coronato

10. When my oldest son was ready for table foods, I thought I should stick with jarred bananas because they must have something magical in them. I mean, look at the cute jar! The colorful label! If you are going to go to the trouble to put it in a jar, it must have something magical added to it, right?
12. Because there are so many brands to choose from, and about 1,000 decisions a day a new mother must make, I decided to ask for help. Imagine my surprise when my girlfriends told me that I could just buy a regular, old banana, unpeel it and feed it to my son. But what about the magic? Turns out, no magic in those jars.
13.
14. I have looked for magic jars in business, too. The seminar/workshop/coach/consultation that is going to have the magic (read: expensive) solution that I need. More times than not, I've found that by asking for help, I get the real answers I need. Expert help isn't always (or even usually) free; but, by asking others who are further along than I am for their opinion, recommendation or insights I can make much more informed decisions.
15.
16. Magic doesn't come in a jar. But when you surround yourself with experts and ask for help, it doesn't matter. You learn to create your own.

19. Action Step - Try This Over the Next Week
21. Instead of spinning your wheels with work this week, take advantage of all the help that is available to you. Have a one-on-one conversation with a niche professional, listen to one teleseminar that relates to your business and read one business article. At the end of the exercise congratulate yourself for taking THREE important steps to building a better brand!

26. "I have hired Helen twice. Once on a long term business development project geared at targeting my services to a hirer income client and another time I was a participant in "The Weekend Publicist." She under-promises and over delivers. All surprises, and there are many, are to the plus side. The outcome of her work evidenced itself in me reaching a wider audience of higher income clients. She is very effective"

"Thank you Helen! I listened to the replay and thought you talk was great, as always."
