There were a number of famous writers who elected to go this route after rejection by the name publishers and were wiser for it.

Technology has made it so incredibly cheap and simple for all of us to be heard in the world and to tell our stories but there is still a place for the traditional publisher in this world. One of the most enjoyable things to do on a lazy weekend is to browse a bookstore and pick up the books and admire the photography, the layout and the presentation. As we are free to enjoy both options that the world has brought us there is really no excuse for not letting that dormant writer out and telling your story.
