The Best Way To Get Started In Article Writing

Submitted by dominictay

As an article marketer, I've always asked myself this question: "What's the best way to get started in article writing?"
nIn fact, I've asked the same question over and over again, expecting a profound and mystical answer. To my surprise, the answer is actually quite simple.
nThe best way to get started in article writing is...
nTo write what you already know. Let me explain...
nIt sounds simple and elementary but it's something most beginning article marketers do not truly understand.
nYou see, the trouble is that when we think of creating fresh content, we always think of getting 'new' ideas from reading more books, articles or websites. As a result, we end up spending hours and hours on gaining new knowledge and not spending the same amount of time writing articles as we ought to.
nYes, that is the best way, but not the quickest way. Know what I mean?
nWriting articles based on ideas that you already have in your mind might not sound or seem enticing to you. Surprisingly based on my personal experience, the reality is often the opposite.
nI've written numerous articles based on my understanding on the basics of the topics and had readers who raved about how great and informative those articles were.
nDo not assume the reader has the same knowledge on the topic as you do. The fact that you've read numerous books on the topic does not mean your readers have done so too. And according to statistics, the average person reads less than or equals to 3 books per year.
nWhat this means is that if you've read more than 3 books in the last year, you've surpassed the majority of the entire world population! Therefore, what may seem 'basic' to you might bring your readers to a whole new level of understanding and enlightenment.
nHaving said that, I do encourage lifelong learning and I suggest you to read at least 1 book every month. This will ensure that you sustain your competitive edge against the rest of the people in your industry.
nSet aside days in the week to concentrate on writing articles. Discipline yourself to focus on solely article writing. Put aside your books and train yourself to write based on facts you already know.
nAt the same time, set aside days in the same week to solely concentrate on gaining new knowledge. New ideas will hit you inevitably but you must be focused on your objective. Write down those ideas on pieces of post-it notes and stick it all over your writing desk. Only translate those ideas into a full-fledged article on the days you've set aside to concentrate on article writing.
nGive this approach an honest shot. You might be dazzled with the results. Good luck!
